If your going to an open mic and your wanting play through high impedance harmonica mic do you need take your own amp as the set up for open mic will ready for singers etc so be set up for low impedance? Second question before I go to harmonica camp in few weeks I have to have zoom with tutor and discuss what playing level I am at? I have seen various ways harmonica players are described eg, beginner, advanced beginner, improver, intermediate, advanced intermediate etc How do you define what makes a player at advanced beginner stage or at intermediate? I am trying find rationale for I place myself? I can do fundamentals eg, single notes, scales, chords, bends, blow bends, follow 12 bar structure improv to it making necessary chord changes , follow timing etc Any help appreciated and hoping see you for one of your set Thurs night! What time you start ?

Please can you help with two questions! All help appreciated ! Hi Everyone hope all good and loving the music! Two questions : Anyone recommend good carrying/music bag for carrying mics, cables, pedals, harmonica carrying case in? I love learning and playing however always been very much something I love to do let off stream, feel alive in moment etc. I love it ! M however I like to overcome my fear of playing in front of and with others. So I have booked myself on the harmonica experience in Memphis where have to play with 25 others from all over , do lot of jamming and at end there’s a show and everyone does a solo piece. This will force me out of my comfort zone. To get ready I have been having lessons with amazing Dave Colclough who a brilliant tutor and we working on improv and piece for end show. We been having hour lesson each week. In between I am practicing harder than I ever have in my life. My mentor has been fantastic in inspiring me and helping get ready. Being part of this school has been invaluable with it’s fantastic courses which helped my skills and knowledge Also to get to play with band got myself some equipment mics, amps, pedal which totally loving experimenting with and open up new world to me. Glad did this now when got fundamentals right rather than at start of my journey . I also forced myself on regular basis to have jam session with 3 different guitar friends . I going have go on open mic at harmonica UK and my guitar friends want us to do open mic at local pub that feels very scary however I am open to it! Has anyone else got top tips for getting over fear of playing in front of others other than do it? Is anything else I can do to get ready for harmonica camp and be ready to play with and in front of others? All help appreciated!

Hi Liam First of all a massive thank you for your improv course it really had increased my confidence and skills. It has also inspired me to take next step and try go to harmonica Experience in Memphis next year to further develop my confidence and ability to play in front of others and with others. In that experience you get opportunity to play with full band and jam in different blues venues. I thought as prep would be useful to learn how to play with microphone and amp? I am going to do your course on this subject next. Also if that is good idea please could give recommendation for microphone for someone like me with small hands? What’s good portable amp option to go with it? I rather pay some monies and have ones that last and be good enough for a few years rather buy cheap ones that need replace in few months. Any suggestions be really appreciated by you and rest of the group. Liam just watching first part of your course and doing some research the Bulletini seems like a fantastic mic and perfect for my small hands what you think? Final question which you rate more the bulletini or silverfish silver bullet mini? Thinking of getting harp train 10 is this good choice? If so what leads do need get and what type of amp ? All help appreciated many thanks Paula

Hi Liam and Everyone I have three questions: 1. A harp buddy has recommended the harmonica experience in USA that’s a 5 day workshop with harp coaches and 25-30 people from around the world. Looks awesome! Has anyone done it and was it amazing? Did improve your playing and confidence? 2. Liam can you do same thing in UK it be awesome! Or know of anyone who does similar? 3. I loved your improv course was brilliant. I now like build on this and get more confident playing in front of others, with others etc. What advice can give for building up confidence of playing in front of others and with others? Other than just do it 😁😁😁 Be great to not only hear from Liam but everyone else! Really appreciate your replies!

I just read the summery of this thanks to your recommendation in module 4 of improv course. What a brilliant study and fascinating read. Given the link between playing ability and mental representation of the instrument my question is this something, like most things in life, you can practice and get better at with time and effort? Or something you can do or not do. I am aware I do it to a degree but like to work at doing it much more and be interested in your view and experience if this is something you can work on to get better at? If so any top tips for how?

Hi Liam Hope I am not driving you mad asking you questions about your amazing improv course. I just want learn as much as I can I have and am learning the full range of green , amber and red notes across all octaves. However in your study notes it says that if playing C harp green notes are the chord tones and playing over dominant seventh chords G7, C7 and D7 which are the I, IV and V chords of 12 bars. Great get this so far It then goes to say these chord tones are made up of four notes , the root, 3rd , 5th and flattened 7 th of each scale. So for I chord G7 that would be G,B,D,F and so on. I get why the G is the root and I have memorised each of these chord tones for each of the three chords . However I want to be able to work out myself and understand the theory . So sorry for the stupid question but why is B the 3rd, D the 5 th and F the flattened 7 ?? I think it’s something to do with counting degrees of separation along scale starting from the G is that right? Can you explain to me so I can always be able work out it and not just know through memorising them
