Country Blues Harmonica Lesson | Easy Rhythm Exercise (Sonny Terry style)

Updated: May 28

Hello! In today's free harmonica lesson we're learning to play a classic Sonny Terry-style country blues rhythm on a key of G diatonic blues harmonica. This is a basic rhythm which can be used as the starting point for a performance piece. There is a draw bend in this tab, so it's great for intermediates who can bend notes and also beginner harmonica players who are learning to add bends into their playing.

Here are the harp tabs:

Single note version: 3 -3// 3 3 3 3

Full version: (slap)3 -3// -123 -123 -123 -123

These tabs are actually something I wrote to be used with my jug band, but the song never got finished. I really like it so thought I'd teach it to you anyway.

Thanks for studying with me today. I hope you enjoyed learning this free harmonica lesson!
