If you've picked up a harmonica for more than a few minutes, you've probably tried to play Heart of Gold by Neil Young. That's because it is one of the most recognisable harmonica tunes out there, and it's a brilliant piece for beginners to learn.

Released in 1972 on his Harvest album, Heart of Gold became Neil Young’s biggest hit - and his only No.1 single in the USA. And for harmonica players, it’s become something of a rite of passage to learn this song. It’s also a great introduction to playing in 1st position (straight harp), which I'll talk about in the video.
