'The Last Rose of Summer' is a beautiful and poignant Irish song that has been sung for over two centuries. The words were written in 1805 by poet Thomas Moore, inspired by a lone rose he saw late in the season. The melody comes from the traditional Irish tune Aisling an Óigfhir (The Young Man's Dream).
