Juke isn't just any old blues song; it's a landmark in music history - and especially in the history of the blues harmonica. Released in 1952, Juke was the first all-instrumental harmonica track to hit the charts, forever solidifying the harmonica's place as a lead instrument in the blues, whereas in the past it had been considered a sideman's tool.
'Little' Walter Jacobs was a true innovator. He didn't just play the harmonica - he commanded it. His signature sound was defined by his incredible mastery of the amplifier, his powerful tone and an uncanny sense of swing and timing. Learning to play Juke isn't just about playing notes - it's about taking a rite of passage for all blues harmonica players.
Thanks for following this harmonica lesson. I hope you enjoyed it!
