This traditional folk song is perfect for practising breath control and creating an expressive, soulful sound on the harmonica. The song is believed to date back to the Jacobite rising of 1745, with the words said to be from the perspective of a captured soldier, with the "high road" referring to the main road back to Scotland for the living, and the "low road" being the path taken by the spirit of the deceased who will get home before the living.
